About the Author

My name is Irina Ponomareva, and I have lived in Saratov all my life. Here I was educated and got my first job after graduation; here I travelled from one company to another trying different professions; here I laughed and cried, loved and hated, fell in love with my future husband and gave birth to my daughter. Saratov is my city, and I miss it terribly when I am away.

My latest profession is one of a web master. My special hobbies are studying English, reading books, building websites for my own private use (as if I didn't have enough of that stuff at work), breeding guppies and watching Formula 1 races on TV. My most loved people are my husband Alex and daughter Janna.

My intentions in regard to this website are to collect facts about my city, including those which could make my readers smile — but I by no means intend to get political or in any way controversial on these web pages. The web is already full of political speculations and controversy, so, it's about time we add a bit of positivism and humour to the mix.

My web projects are my way of expressing myself.
